The Cinema Series 56HMX96 HDTV combines a wealth of technology for a truly integrated experience. This DLP (Digital Light Processing) projection television is fully digital cable ready (DCR). You can receive digital cable stations without a cable box by contacting your cable provider, ordering a CableCARD, and then inserting the card into the CableCARD slot on your television. CableCARDs can be easily changed, allowing this television to be used with virtually any cable company. Also featured on the 56HMX96 is TV Guide On Screen. It combines programming from each of the television’s internal tuners (ATSC, NTSC and QAM) into one, easy-to-read on-screen program guide. TV Guide On Screen makes it quick and easy for you to locate desired programs, and is a crucial feature for ease of use with digital cable. THINC RJ-45 network capability allows access, through an existing home network, to your library of JPEG and MP3 files, using only the TV’s remote control, even through a connected home theater. A new TALEN 5 720p DLP engine incorporates 5th generation DLP technology from Texas Instruments for Toshiba’s best 720p picture yet. The Radiance 150 Hi-Bright Lamp with quick restart is 25 percent brighter, for increased brightness without losing contrast. Quick Restart mans that this great picture is only a moment away. Using 12-bit picture processing (up to 14-bit internally), PixelPure Hi-Bit digital video processing can create 4096 steps of gradation (steps between the whitest white, to the blackest black). It also incorporates improvements in areas such as real speed progressive scanning, video noise reduction, shaprness, and gamma control to set a new standard for picture quality. Finally, Four Step Dynamic Contrast allows you to customize the picture based on such factors as source material and ambient lighting conditions.
